2014-2015 HIGHLANDER BAND

Granada Hills Highlander Marching Band

The Granada Hills Charter High School Music Academy is proud to present the Granada Hills Highlander Band. Wearing black, white and green official Granada Hills tartan kilts, the highlanders are musical ambassadors of the United Scottish Societies Highland Games and Festivals.

The band has performed in such prestigious events as the 2002 Winter Olympics, KIIS FM's "Wango Tango", the Portland Rose Festival 2005 & 2007, and live performances for Paramount Studios, Universal studios, and Warner Bros. Productions. They have also appeared in major motion pictures like "Dodgeball", televisions shows such as "The Gilmore Girls", MTV's "Rock Your World", and PBS "California's Gold." You will also see them in national advertising campaigns for 7up, Kellogg's Sugar Frosted Flakes, and Round Table Pizza.

Here in Hollywood, Granada Hills has performed original compositions by award winning composers Stephan Sondhiem and Harold Wheeler. Last year Granada performed live on Nickelodeon with Will Smith for the "Kids Choice Awards" and on Comedy Central for the "Holiday Parade from Hell, Minnesota." Two years ago, Granada performed live at the Hollywood Bowl with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra in Leonard Bernstein's "Mass," and this year, performed Hector Berlioz' "Grand Symphony" for two performances at the bowl, garnering rave reviews from the L.A. Times.

The Highlander Band was awarded the Grand Sweepstakes Championship at the Portland Rose Festival in 2005 and the Peoples Choice Award in 2007.
